The John Innes Centre (JIC) is Europe's premier independent research centre for the study of plant science and microbiology. Located on the Norwich Research Park, Colney, Norwich (UK), the Centre's mission is to carry out fundamental and strategic research, to train scientists and to make its findings available to society. In addition to the main site at Colney, JIC also occupies a small farm in Colney and the 200 acre Chalk Farm in Bawburgh (a nearby village). The main site includes several large laboratory buildings, extensive glasshouses, a conference centre and library. Also on the site are the Sainsbury Laboratory, Plant Bioscience Ltd and the Norwich Bio-Incubator.
